Link cleaner: remove utm_source=chatgpt.com and other tracking parameters
Links in AI answers often carry tracking tags such as ?utm_source=chatgpt.com. Paste any text and every link inside it is cleaned, while functional parameters like ?id=42 are kept.
Ready when you are.
What it removes
- UTM campaign tags: utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, utm_content and the like — including utm_source=chatgpt.com.
- Click identifiers added by ad and social platforms: gclid, fbclid, msclkid, ttclid, twclid, yclid, igshid, mc_eid, _hsenc and more.
- Optionally, generic referral parameters (ref, source, via) — off by default because some sites use them.
What it keeps
- The page address, the fragment (#section) and every parameter that is not a known tracker, so links keep working.
- Trailing punctuation around links in your text.
- It never opens the links: nothing is requested from those sites.
Why does ChatGPT add utm_source=chatgpt.com?
When ChatGPT cites web pages it appends utm_source=chatgpt.com so site owners can see the visit came from ChatGPT. It is harmless, but many people prefer clean links when sharing.
Can removing parameters break a link?
Tracking parameters are not needed to load a page, and the cleaner only removes known trackers. If a site relies on a referral code you want to keep, leave the optional referral option off.
Does it work with any website?
Yes. It works with any standard http(s) link in the text you paste, not only ChatGPT links.
